Born in Russia, and trained as a classical pianist at the St.Petersburg Conservatory, I have been a piano teacher and an accompanist most of my professional career. The interest in pottery came later in life, and was just a hobby at first. I took classes at different studios and colleges around Chicago area, but my career as a professional potter started on St. John, where I found a new inspiration.
St. John was love at first sight – my husband and I bought our first house here 15 years ago in just two days, and never regretted it: the colors of the ocean and nearby tropical islands are stunning and the beaches are still the best in the world for swimming - something we love to do.
In the beginning my pottery studio was serving decorating needs of the house, but soon after became an inspirational place for me and a working studio serving the needs of others. My current projects include such architectural pieces as sconces, sinks, lamps, wall and pool decorations, as well as functional pottery. Most of these works are commissioned - there is no production line, each piece is unique and individually made.
I feel blessed and am very grateful for the life I have. As a wife, a mother, a sister and a grandmother of two, there is not enough time in the day to accomplish everything I would like to do!
